You may have heard of Safe Harbors as a legal term in reference to DMCA, but what does it mean?
Websites that have user generated content needed a little protection and therefore safe harbors were where they turned.

While you can have rules in place, it doesn’t mean people follow them. As a website owner, getting popped for copyright infringement can become overwhelming and could cost a bundle if the site is held liable each time.
While most sites will promptly take down any post that is reported as copyright infringement, they need a little backing on the legal side to do it and protect themselves.
Could you image if Facebook got hauled to court every time someone hared an image they have no rights too? Holy hell, that would mean Facebook would spend every day in a legal mess.
