How To NoFollow Links Using HTML

Unread post by Sheryl Loch » Wed Sep 28, 2016 5:03 pm

When you are using a WordPress website and you are linking out to other websites or affiliate links, you may want to make those links NoFollow.

By using NoFollow on the links, you are basically telling Google that you are not giving full trust to that website and that you don’t want to pass page rank to that particular link.

This also means that if the site you are linking to goes away or that particular post you link to gets taken down or moved or even if that link ends up being redirected by the site owner (or a hacker), you have already “stated” that you are not wanting to pass rank.

Some people NoFollow all out bound links, others pick and choose which sites they NoFollow. If you are unsure then go with NoFollow.

ALL AFFILIATE LINKS SHOULD BE NOFOLLOW!!!!! <<<< ---- This is a MUST remember!!!!

Now some WordPress sites make NoFollow easy as it is in a plugin when you make a link, it will ask if you want NoFollow…other sites, you have to manually write it in the HTML code.

Do NOT be afraid of the word HTML…You can do this!

How To –

Now once you have placed your hot link (clickable link) in your post, you can go to the section of the editor that says TEXT in the tab on the upper right.

Now look for the link you want to NoFollow and we are going to add in rel=”nofollow”

You will need to place the rel=”nofollow” in between the Beginning link bracket < and the ending link bracket />

Keep in mind that once you save the post, your website may move the placement of the rel=”nofollow” to the beginning or end of the link code. This is OK! Some websites do this…as long as you can see the code is still in the link brackets…you are nofollowing the link!
